WebDNA's Easy Rapid Development/Deployment Solutions Form New Base for Company's Internet Solutions Division
ALISO VIEJO, CA -- The Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a developer and marketer of software solutions for the Internet developer tools market, today announced the unveiling of four new eBusiness rapid development and deployment products based on WebDNA™, Smith Micro's popular and easy-to-use Internet application generator. The four products comprising the WebDNA family will be tiered in price and capability to closely match specific developer requirements. This new product family will form a new base for the company's Internet Solutions Division, directed at the needs of the corporate market.
WebDNA is the technology behind Smith Micro's WebCatalog™ and WebMerchant™ eCommerce development tools. WebDNA has generated a strong following among solution providers and website developers due to its ease of use, rapid learning curve, flexibility, performance and its support of multiple platforms including Windows, Mac, Unix, Linux and Solaris. Based on WebDNA's successful track record, Smith Micro is currently developing four new products enabling developers to purchase the functionality they need. The new suite of products include:
- WebDNA™ Developer Edition is a powerful yet economical toolkit for dynamic Web publishing. The Developer Edition leverages any internal database, enabling users to insert dynamic information into websites as well as to create banner ads, online quizzes, user tracking features, password protection, and much more. The Developer Edition will be available shortly.
- WebDNA™ Commerce Edition, formerly WebCatalog and WebMerchant, allows users to quickly and easily create, improve, and administer eCommerce websites without having to use complex languages such as ASP or Java. Commerce Edition, currently available, supports the development of any number of eCommerce sites, and includes back office order management and payment authorization capabilities as well as a wizard for easy storefront creation.
- WebDNA™ Intranet Edition, slated for 3Q 2002 release, is a complete Intranet development platform that will include a broad range of features and tools. Intranet Edition will support site administration, document publishing, news, feedback/request forms, phonebooks, organizational charts, classifieds, FAQs, event calendars and much more.
- WebDNA™ Enterprise Edition, planned for end-of-year release, will be the first easy to learn, easy to use rapid development/deployment platform that spans multiple operating environments specifically designed for enterprise-level websites and Internet-based business applications. Enterprise Edition will emphasize easy content management, an integrated development environment and include the ability to consume, consolidate and publish XML-based Web services. The support of emerging web Services, a major focus for the Microsoft .NET strategy, positions WebDNA in the forefront of evolving web development technology.
