Key Distributor of Components & PC Products Brings Smith Micro's Products to Both OEMs and Retailers Throughout Japan

ALISO VIEJO, CA -Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) announced today that it has signed a distribution agreement with Marubun Corporation, a major distributor of both electronic components and PC products in Japan with more than $900 million in annual sales. Under the terms of the agreement, Marubun will now resell Smith Micro's soft-ware packages to both OEMs and retailers located throughout Japan.

In response to the rapid adoption of the "Video PC" concept in Japan, Marubun will initially focus its efforts on selling Smith Micro's video conferencing packages, including AudioVisionTM, VideoLinkTM 323/324, and the popular VideoLink Mail, an innovative and easy-to-use software solution that lets users record and save video and audio messages and send them over the Internet.

In addition, Marubun will be selling Smith Micro's QuickLink® Message Center III, a sophisticated package that combines fax, data communica-tions and voicemail functionality.
