ALISO VIEJO, CA - Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) announced today that it has signed a distribution agreement with IMC, a leading U.K.-based distributor of digital imaging, communications and computer telephony products. Under the terms of this new agreement, IMC will resell Smith Micro's entire line of communications software to dealers and value-added resellers ("VARs") throughout the United Kingdom.

"IMC's excellent reputation in the U.K. market, combined with its expertise in selling and supporting communications products, makes it an ideal business partner for Smith Micro," said Laura A. Raybin, Smith Micro's Director of Marketing. "With IMC's assistance we are in a strong position to establish Smith Micro as a leading supplier of communications software in the U.K."

"IMC is naturally very pleased to be working with a U.S. market leader like Smith Micro," said David Robson, IMC's Chairman and Managing Director. "Based on the initial success we've already achieved in selling Smith Micro products to leading retailers as well as to our VAR customers, we are very optimistic about our joint prospects for success."

Smith Micro offers high-quality communications software solutions that make person-to-person communications simple and effective. With a focus on Internet, broadband and modem-based technologies, the company designs integrated, easy-to-use software that enables fax, data, voice and video communication to personal computer users around the world. The company's product line includes HotFax® MessageCenter, VideoLinkTM Mail Pro, MacComCenterTM Plus, HotFaxShareTM and the recently released Internet CommSuiteTM, the first fully-integrated Internet communications package.

Based in Ascot, Berkshire, IMC was originally established as a supplier of computer peripherals, including tape back-up systems, monitors and film recorders. It has since expanded and diversified into distinct market sectors: pre-press, graphics, communications, and computer telephony integration, operating on both Apple Macintosh and PC platforms. IMC is a value-added distributor and, as such, has demonstrators, trainers, and comprehensive pre-sales support services. With over 2,000 approved dealers in the U.K., IMC has a well-established presence in the computer retail channel, and has a strong VAR channel as well.

IMC has already signed agreements for Smith Micro's Internet CommSuite and HotFax MessageCenter with some prominent U.K. software outlets, including Software Warehouse, Watford Electronics and Global Direct. As a demonstration of its commitment to sell-through, IMC is also planning to host a series of seminars for its VAR customers that will focus on training them to sell Smith Micro's HotFaxShare application.
