CableAmerica to bundle all-in-one Web communications package to take advantage of Internet CommSuites's broadband capabilities

ALISO VIEJO, CA - Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) today announced an agreement with CableAmerica, one of the country's fastest-growing, privately-held cable companies. CableAmerica will bundle Smith Micro's new Internet CommSuiteTM software with its cable modem service to take advantage of Internet CommSuite's broadband features.

The agreement will give CableAmerica's cable modem customers an all-in-one Internet communications package that provides the software capabilities to fax over the Internet bypassing long-distance phone charges, add audio and video to their e-mails, conduct audio and video phone-calls, add sound and full-motion video to their chat sessions, and more. Internet CommSuite is the first product to bring all of these functions together under a single easy-to-use interface, eliminating the need to buy, install and learn different programs.

"With the prospect of having an Internet connection that is 30 to 50 times faster than a standard 28.8k modem, we expect at least 10 percent of our customer base in each market to sign on for our cable modem service. Internet CommSuite will add a lot of value to the package," said Eric W. Jackson, manager of Internet services for Phoenix-based CableAmerica Corporation. "The product's ability to unite so many functions under one umbrella and to utilize our higher bandwidth to perform many functions, like quickly transmitting large video files, will help make the Internet more user-friendly to our customers."

CableAmerica will roll out the service in its core markets, beginning in Arizona and Missouri and expanding from there. The installation package will include cabling and setup, Bay Networks' LAN City LCP cable modem and Smith Micro's Internet CommSuite.

"This agreement reflects the fact that Internet CommSuite was engineered specifically to take advantage of the high-speed capabilities of broadband technologies like cable modems," said Dan Sheppard, Smith Micro's Chief Operating Officer. "CableAmerica immediately recognized the value of pairing our software with its wide-bandwidth Internet service, and we look forward to supporting the roll-out of its cable modem service."
