Innovative VideoLink Mail Software Let Students Send Personalized Video and Audio E-mail Messages Over the Internet to Mom and Dad

ALISO VIEJO, CA - As students head off to college, parents around the country are getting ready to face the challenge of coaxing them to stay in touch.

Announcing an innovative solution to this age-old problem, Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) today announced its VideoLinkTM Mail Back-To-School Contest. Families who enter the contest have a chance to win a PC camera, software and other prizes, while they learn about an easy and fun way - VideoLink Mail - to stay in touch.

With VideoLink Mail, students can create and send audio/video messages to anyone capable of receiving e-mail on a Windows-based PC. Anybody with a Windows-based computer can view the message because Smith Micro's VideoLink Mail Player is automatically embedded in every message. Students create a personal message with the touch of a button, and attach it to their everyday e-mails. With Smith Micro's advanced compression technology, a 30-second video message takes up only about 300K - and that includes the embedded player!

By combining the personal touches of sound and video with the conveniences of e-mail, VideoLink Mail gives students a hassle-free way of staying in touch regardless of their class and social schedules.

"Every parent who has students in college knows how hard it is to see how their sons and daughters are doing," said Laura Raybin, Director of Marketing for Smith Micro Software, Inc.
