Bill co-founded Smith Micro Software, Inc. in 1982. He served as Smith Micro’s President and Chief Executive Officer and as Chairman of the Board since the company’s successful IPO in 1995 (NASDAQ: SMSI) until April 2026, when he became Executive Chairman for Smith Micro until his reappointment by the Board as president and CEO in mid-September 2026. Since the inception of Smith Micro, Bill has overseen more than 25 strategic acquisitions while building Smith Micro into a multi-national company positioned for sustained success in the rapidly evolving global telecommunications industry. Guided by his visionary leadership and savvy business acumen, Smith Micro has developed a reputation as a trusted software solution provider to wireless carriers and cable companies. Bill earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Grove City College and launched his career with companies such as RCA Computer Systems, Xerox Data Systems, and Rockwell International Corporation, before co-founding Smith Micro Software, Inc. Bill is also a member of the Board of Trustees for Grove City College.
Bethany M. Braund
Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
Bethany assumed the role of CFO and Treasurer beginning April 2026. She joined Smith Micro in November 2021 and has served the Company in increasing areas of responsibility, most recently as Senior Director, Financial Reporting, where she has spearheaded all Company SEC reporting obligations, all technical accounting matters in support of numerous financing transactions, all financial audit, internal control, and tax activities, plus many other visible projects within the company. She has provided steady support and leadership to Smith Micro’s preceding CFOs and the executive team over her tenure at the Company. Prior to joining Smith Micro, Bethany served in advancing roles at Ernst & Young, LLP from August 2010 through November 2021 within the assurance service line. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Accounting degree (summa cum laude) from the College of Charleston, Bethany graduated with a Master of Science in Accountancy degree (magna cum laude) from the University of Notre Dame and is a certified public accountant.
As Chief Product & Revenue Officer at Smith Micro, Anup leads the company’s Product Management and Sales organizations, aligning product strategy, go-to-market execution, and revenue growth across global markets. Prior to joining Smith Micro in 2019, Anup worked in corporate venture capital, managing investments in emerging technology sectors, and earlier held leadership roles in large technology organizations, leading product innovation and commercialization of new solutions at scale. An entrepreneurial leader, he also co-founded two successful startups focused on disruptive mobile platforms. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering from Pune University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management from Symbiosis University, and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
Charlie joined the Company in 2016 as Vice President, Corporate Development and Investor Relations. Charlie assumed the role of Vice President, Marketing in December 2022 and oversees the Company’s global marketing, digital monetization, public relations and design teams, while continuing to manage corporate development and investor relations activities. He brings more than 26 years of experience working with a large range of technology companies providing investor relations counsel and advising on strategy, financing alternatives, M&A and marketing activities. Prior to joining Smith Micro, Charlie was the Vice President of Finance & Corporate Development at eGain Corporation, and he co-founded The MKR Group, serving as its President, where he managed investor relations, corporate development, and marketing activities for several technology companies with a wide range of market capitalizations. He is well known on Wall Street for having a strong marketing presence throughout many diverse industries. Charlie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Iowa State University.
As Smith Micro’s General Counsel, Jen is responsible for the company’s corporate governance, compliance and legal affairs, including contract negotiation, securities compliance, and mergers and acquisitions activity. Prior to joining Smith Micro in 2017, Jen served as General Counsel of Tollgrade Communications, a technology solutions provider in the telecommunications industry. Prior to her service at Tollgrade, Jen began her career at the international law firm, Reed Smith LLP, where her practice was focused on corporate and securities, M&A and financing transactions for a variety of private and public company clients. Jen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University and a Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University.
Ken Shebek
Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President, Engineering
Ken joined Smith Micro in 2010 where he initially led the Enterprise Mobility Product platform. In 2011 he assumed the role of VP Operations and served as Chief Information Officer from 2016 through 2025. Ken rejoined the company in September of 2026 as Senior Vice President of Engineering, leading the Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Technical Operations teams to ensure the seamless integration of advance technologies that empower businesses and consumers worldwide. Prior to Smith Micro, he held various roles including Vice President of Operations for Tollgrade Communications, Vice President of Supply & Logistics for Ericsson, Inc., and Vice President of Supply Chain for Marconi, where he also served as its Vice President of North American Operations.
