Application will manage data connectivity for GTRAN Wireless' DotSurfer™ 7001 card; Solution Enables Users to Access GSM/GPRS High-Speed Wireless Networks
ALISO VIEJO, CA -- The Wireless & Broadband Division of Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a developer and marketer of a wide range of software and service solutions for the Internet market, announced today that it has been chosen by GTRAN Wireless™, a world leader in the development and delivery of high-speed wireless access solutions, to supply QuickLink® Mobile software for GTRAN Wireless' GSM/GPRS DotSurfer™ 7001 PC card. Using QuickLink Mobile, DotSurfer users will be able to quickly dial into GSM/GPRS wireless networks enabling high-speed transmission of data via wireless connection.
The DotSurfer 7001 is a GTRAN Wireless PC card that slides into any mobile device equipped with a Type II PCMCIA slot. The credit card-sized product is equipped with a short, break-resistant antenna that pivots into place for use, enabling users to experience wireless data communications at speeds up to 85 kbps. The DotSurfer 7001 supports all major mobile platforms including Windows 98, 2000, ME, and XP. The DotSurfer 7001 uses authentication and encryption for secure connections via GSM security protocols.
QuickLink Mobile, Smith Micro's leading connectivity product, provides the user interface to access email, upload/download files, and surf websites anytime, from any location. The software installs in minutes via an easy-to-use installation wizard, and offers a Digital Dashboard that displays signal strength along with important session statistics.
