New Functionality will be Powered by WebCatalog and Wireless WebDNA Technology

Aliso Viejo, CA -- The Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a worldwide developer and marketer of Internet communications software, today announced an agreement to add advanced e-commerce and wireless e-shopping capabilities to, a site promoting LandWare Inc.’s software and accessories for handheld computers. The new functionality will be implemented using Smith Micro’s WebCatalog and Wireless WebDNA technology. Smith Micro will also host LandWare’s storefront, offering the unique ability to support both the hardware and the software powering the site.

Scheduled to launch in late April or early May, the new online store will give customers the ability to order LandWare’s products for the Palm-connected organizer and other handheld devices from Internet-enabled cellular phones. Visitors using a wireless Internet browser will be able to see storefront pages dynamically created using Handheld Device Markup Language (HDML) and place orders with familiar shopping cart functionality. These features will be made possible by the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) capabilities in Smith Micro’s Wireless WebDNA.

The storefront will also have the ability to automatically calculate discounts on products bought in specific combinations, suggest add-on products at the checkout counter for upselling purposes, and issue serial numbers enabling customers who purchase downloaded electronic products to begin using them immediately. SmithMicro’s WebCatalog will power these custom features and the site’s new shopping cart.

"We evaluated many options in deciding to add a full-featured storefront to our site, and Smith Micro was the only provider we found that could not only meet our customization needs but also host our storefront and supply WAP functionality for the emerging wireless e-commerce market," said Ken Landau, President of LandWare, Inc. "These were important selling points."

"LandWare is a natural user of our wireless e-shopping technology because their customers are already oriented to doing business wirelessly," said Chris Lippincott, General Manager of the Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro Software. "With a micro-browser and a wireless modem, a handheld computing device like the Palm VII could be used to place orders just as easily as an Internet-enabled cell phone, so many of LandWare’s customers will have two ways to take advantage of the company’s new wireless ordering functionality."
