ALISO VIEJO, CA - Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) today announced an agreement with FOCUS Enhancements, Inc. (Nasdaq: FCSE) to bundle Smith Micro's new Internet CommSuiteTM with Focus Enhancements' new InVideo TV Tuner card.
FOCUS Enhancements' new InVideo TV Tuner card allows its customers to view live television pictures, either in a small window or full screen, on their PC monitors. With Internet CommSuite, owners of FOCUS Enhancements' InVideo TV Tuner card will be able to record a live-action video clip, compress and save it, or e-mail it, utilizing the Multimedia E-Mail feature, one of many features found in Smith Micro's all-in-one Internet communications package.
Internet CommSuite is an "all-in-one" software product developed to add personality to all forms of Internet communications. With a new point-and-click interface, Internet CommSuite users can send toll-free fax documents, make toll-free video phone calls, send multimedia e-mails, share the same document with another on-line PC user and even turn their computers into Internet answering machines -- all with this single piece of communications software. Internet CommSuite is optimized for both traditional analog modems and newer broadband technologies such as cable and xDSL.
"We are very pleased that FOCUS Enhancements selected our new easy-to-use Internet communications package -- Internet CommSuite -- to bundle with its InVideo TV Tuner card," said Dan D. Sheppard, Smith Micro's Executive Vice President and COO.
"According to a Frost & Sullivan report, the PC/TV Tuner card market is projected to exceed $52 million in sales for 1999, which is a 61 percent increase from 1998. We believe this agreement with FOCUS Enhancements illustrates our continued efforts to become a leader in this new computer-based person-to-person communications market," said Sheppard.
"We're very excited about the opportunity to work with Smith Micro to bundle a robust Internet Communications Package with our TV Tuner," said Karl Doane, Product Manager for FOCUS Enhancements. "ICS is a tremendous addition to the FOCUS offering."
