Belgium-Based ECHO Will Play A Key Role In Executing Smith Micro's Pan-European Strategy By Providing Multi-Lingual Support And Marketing Services

ALISO VIEJO, CA - Smith Micro Software (Nasdaq: SMSI) today announced that it has formed a strategic alliance with European Call Handling Operation ("ECHO"), a Belgium-based provider of support and marketing services for high technology companies. Through this new alliance, ECHO will now play a key role in executing Smith Micro's pan-European strategy by furnishing multi-lingual technical and marketing support services throughout Europe.

Strategically located at the crossroads of northern Europe, ECHO is viewed as an ideal partner to support Smith Micro's sales efforts in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Benelux. ECHO will specifically provide expert technical support services in multiple languages, and will also assist in managing Smith Micro's registration services and upgrade fulfillment process. ECHO will further support Smith Micro by marketing to areas where the company's distribution isn't yet fully developed, and will also conduct pan-European direct marketing efforts in support of existing Smith Micro distributors.

"We fully expect that ECHO's multi-lingual support and marketing services will play a pivotal role in our efforts to establish a leadership position in the European communica-tions software market," said Dan D. Sheppard, Smith Micro's Executive Vice President and COO. "The multiple language support ECHO provides will be particularly important to OEM prospects, which typically require that their customers can access technical support services in their native languages."

"We are very pleased to be in partnership with Smith Micro, because it is widely acknowledged as one of leading suppliers of communications software in the world," said Fergus Donohoe, Managing Director of ECHO. "With the dynamic growth in Internet usage that is expected to continue throughout Europe, we believe Smith Micro has excellent potential to establish itself as one of the top suppliers of communications software in the European market."
