Enable comprehensive Open Mobile Alliance Device Management (OMA DM) capabilities on a wide range of mobile devices spanning the Android, Windows Mobile and Symbian operating systems as well as GSM and WiMAX technologies.
Mobile Device Management
Implement the complete OMA DM specification including the FUMO (Firmware Update Management Object) enabler for the delivery and management of firmware update packages. Support downloading firmware by both in-session and alternate DL download methods.
Diagnostics Management
Enable advanced device diagnostics, fault reporting and performance monitoring on all your mobile and WiMAX devices. Conduct diagnostic functions, monitor activities and collect performance information to support a variety of applications.
- Policy management
- Network fault reporting
- Performance monitoring
- Device interrogation and repair
- Warranty voiding
Data Synchronization
Support the synchronization of personal data to enable backup, restore, transfer of PIM data to new phones. Ensure data objects on the device can be synchronized with a server to keep the data current and consistent between them.
- Support all standard sync data types including vCard, vCalendar, iCalendar, Task, Memo, Email, Folders and personal content
- Support large objects and suspend/resume
- Provide server alerted notifications
- Support meta info and device info
Software Component Management
Support secure mobile application delivery and management. This encompasses mobile software applications and other software components such as libraries, UI-elements, certificates and licenses. Manage the entire software life cycle-delivery, installation, activation, retrieval of inventory, update, deactivation, and removal.
WiMAX Support
The Open Management Client (OMC) is a comprehensive OMA DM client, enabling all WiMAX and OMA standard device management capabilities for WiMAX devices, including:
- WiMAX NWG Release 1.5 OTA Provisioning Specifications
- Device Management (DM)
- Firmware Update Management Object (FUMO)
- Software Component Management Object (SCOMO)
- Device and Network Diagnostics Monitor (DIAGMON)
- Mobile Device Security (LAWMO)
- Data Synchronization using SyncML (DS)
Unlike mobile networks, WiMAX does not utilize SMS for messaging to the device, so alternate mechanisms are required for the initial bootstrapping of the WiMAX device and ongoing notifications that a device management action is pending. For WiMAX, the OMC includes:
- UDP message support
- DNS SRV lookup for the WIB server
- WIB server API to request the DM server IP address
