Smith Micro Announces Strategic Agreement with Frisk Software International to Provide 'World Class' Anti-Virus Protection

Frisk Software International's F-Prot Antivirus Solution to be bundled with Smith Micro's Leading Retail PC Diagnostic, Utility and Speed Enhancement CheckIt Products

ALISO VIEJO, CA -- Smith Micro Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: SMSI) announced today that it has signed a strategic partnering agreement with Frisk Software International, a world leading anti-virus security provider, to develop and market IT securities products and services.

Under the terms of this agreement, Smith Micro and Frisk Software International will be working together to develop products and services combining anti-virus technology with Smith Micro's products. Initially, Smith Micro will be bundling Frisk Software's F-Prot AntivirusTM security software with Smith Micro's CheckIt® product line and it will be distributed through Smith Micro's normal distribution channel. CheckIt products are designed to help PC users troubleshoot a wide variety of PC problems, by quickly and easily providing detailed confirmation of system configuration and performance, including hardware and peripheral devices.

Subsequent development activity will focus on the potential integration of F-Prot AntivirusTM technology with Smith Micro's QuickLink Mobile wireless products for mobile phones and PDA devices. Other potential development projects may include Internet products and services in conjunction with Smith Micro's WebCatalog product and its web hosting business.

Current F-Prot AntivirusTM technology offers complete virus protection for personal computers running Windows 98/95/ME, Windows NT Workstation, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows XP. F-Prot Antivirus automatically detects over 60,000 viruses, worms and Trojans. It cleans conventional file and boot sector viruses as well as macro viruses that infect Microsoft Office 95, Office 98, and Office 2000 Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint files. It is designed to provide excellent protection against Internet and email-borne viruses, safeguarding PC's from infected files downloaded from the web, and from infected email file attachments.

As part of the agreement, Frisk Software International's F-Prot Antivirus product will also be available for purchase from Smith Micro's web site.
