HotFax MessageCenter 5.0 Enhances Handling of Fax, Voicemail and Calls to Centralize a Wide Array of Communications into an Integrated Command Center
ALISO VIEJO, CA--Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a developer and marketer of a wide range of utility software and service solutions, today announced that it is shipping a new version of its HotFax® MessageCenter. The program, which transforms a personal computer into a complete and integrated communications center, has been enhanced to allow users more flexibility and power than ever before. Whether in the office, at home, or on the road, HotFax MessageCenter users can customize cover pages and send faxes easily, add high-tech telephone capabilities to a PC computer, and remotely access the PC for the retrieval of faxes, files and voice mail.
"Version 5.0 of HotFax MessageCenter lets users send faxes from a Windows application directly to an email address instead of a standard fax number. In addition to putting faxes into a more usable digital form, faxing to an email address moves users one step closer to the paperless office and lowers long-distance telephone charges associated with faxing," said Doug Deck, Director of Channel Sales. The fax is delivered as an attachment that can be opened, viewed, forwarded, printed or filed by a user on any Windows-based machine.
The program also allows received voicemails and faxes to be automatically forwarded via an e-mail attachment to a pre-determined address. Forwarded voicemail messages can be played and replayed, then forwarded or filed. Users have the option of routing incoming information based on Caller ID and receive automatic notification of received voicemails and faxes via a pager. Voice mail messages can be retrieved from any phone and are safeguarded by a combination of remote and local passwords. Advanced faxing options include broadcast fax, fax-on-demand and customizable Caller ID.
HotFax MessageCenter 5.0 is available in distribution through Ingram Micro and is sold in major retail stores including CompUSA, Staples, Office Depot, Circuit City and many others.
