Fund Selector, Wireless Alerts and Dynamic Back End to be Provided to Fabian.com
Aliso Viejo, CA - The Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), a developer and marketer of a wide range of software and service solutions for the Internet market, today announced an agreement to add robust new functionality to Fabian.com, a mutual fund advisory site connected to the syndicated radio talk show, "Maverick Investing with Doug Fabian." The new features are expected to go live early next month.
Smith Micro consultants will enhance the site with an easy-to-use fund selector guide, the ability to send fund alerts to wireless phones using Smith Micro's Wireless WebDNA, and a unified back-end administration system that will enable Fabian.com to alter site content quickly and easily. The new site will also include a wireless-enabled online store that will sell membership subscriptions in five different categories, handle events registration, and market merchandise related to the radio show hosted by Fabian Investment Resources President Doug Fabian.
"With the competitive nature of financial sites and the need for absolute accuracy, we needed to have our new functionality developed and deployed quickly, and with the right business logic," said Mark Anderson, Information Systems Director for Fabian.com. "The addition of Smith Micro's WAP-enabling capabilities is a great bonus that we believe will give us an edge over other financial sites by equipping us with the ability to communicate with our members wirelessly."
Fabian.com's new wizard-style fund selector will enable site members to name their investing criteria and instantly receive a comprehensive list of funds that fit their requirements. The list will include current fund yields and ratings.
The use of Smith Micro's Wireless WebDNA will allow Fabian.com to transmit up-to-the-minute information over Internet-ready cellular phones to keep members informed of changes in Fabian's fund allocations and recommendations. This will allow the increasing number of Internet-ready cellular phone users to have access to this information even while they are away from their computers.
The back end that Smith Micro is creating for Fabian will unify the maintenance of the site and accelerate the pace at which content can be changed. Through Smith Micro's WebCatalog web publishing solution, site administrators will be able to alter the look and content of the site via web browser and configure the system to automatically publish new content on a set date.
"This project demonstrates the range of capabilities that we bring to our clients, from front-end functionality to back-end infrastructure, and even wireless solutions," said Chris Lippincott, General Manager of the Internet Solutions Division of Smith Micro Software. "The addition of Wireless WebDNA to this site we believe will really help to distinguish Fabian from other information sites in this space."
Fabian Investment Resources has been dispensing mutual fund investing advice for 22 years.
