SMITH MICRO ENHANCES ITS 'VARPLUS PROGRAM'

Comprehensive Reseller Program No Longer Requires a Purchase Commitment and Now Offers Participating VARs even Greater Levels of Marketing

ALISO VIEJO, CA - Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI), announced today that it has enhanced its VARPlus Program, a comprehensive reseller program targeted towards resellers interested in capitalizing on the rapidly growing video, teleph-ony, server-based fax and data communications markets. Membership in this innovative program provides VARs with all of the tools and support they need to successfully sell Smith Micro communications software products.

This latest edition of the VARPlus Program features a number of noteworthy improvements. In particular, the program no longer requires a purchase commitment, or any other financial require-ment of the VAR. Additionally, Smith Micro has now assigned a dedicated staff of VAR account managers to work with 'Premiere Partner' VARs in specific geographic territories, and the program also provides VARs with enhanced technical support options. Other updates include a new password-protected Web-page for acquiring marketing materials, and a new e-mail-based newsletter called the VARPlus News.

The VARPlus Program provides VARs with the choice of becoming an 'Associate Partner' or a 'Premiere Partner.' VARs that opt to be Associate Partners automatically qualify to receive free technical support, product specials and discounts, 'Not-For-Resale' demo products, marketing materials, and a subscription to VARPlus News. VARs interested in being a Premiere Partner can advance to this level by becoming certified in one or more product categories via certification tests that are only available to Associate Partners. Upon successful test completion, the VAR then becomes a Premiere Partner and receives the following incremental benefits: sales and service leads, priority support, a dedicated VAR support representative, and the ability to participate with Smith Micro in co-marketing efforts aimed at registered users.
