Now Mac Users Can Connect to the Advanced Server-based Fax Solution to Save Phone Lines and Significantly Reduce Long Distance Phone Charges
ALISO VIEJO, CA - Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) announced today a new Macintosh client for the recently released HotFaxShareTM Version 4.1, a fully integrated server-based solution for corporate faxing requirements. Seamlessly handling fax creation, transmission and status monitoring, this innovative software eliminates the expense of installing modems and phone lines at every workstation.
Ideal for use by organizations that operate on both the PC and Mac platforms, the easy-to-use Mac client provides Mac users with access to a powerful network fax solution that automatically routes faxes to the recipient's desktop. In addition, the Mac client provides access to an IP Gateway within HotFaxShare that enables users to significantly reduce their long-distance faxing charges.
The recently-released HotFaxShare/IP Gateway module connects multiple HotFaxShare servers together over the Internet or IP Wide Area Network (WAN). The HotFaxShare server sends faxes over the WAN or Internet and determines how to route them using the most cost-effective path. This dramatically reduces long distance charges by intelligently determining which of the connected fax servers can most cost effectively handle a fax job.
For companies that wish to send faxes to locations where they do not have a fax server, the Mac client can also make use of the HotFaxShare/IP Gateway to forward faxes through FaxSav (Nasdaq:FAXX),a fax service bureau. This way, companies can leverage the cost-savings of Internet communications to reduce long-distance costs.
"With the new Mac client for HotFaxShare, organizations that operate on both the PC and Mac platform can now eliminate the expense of having a fax modem and phone line at every Mac workstation," said Dan D. Sheppard, Executive Vice President and COO for Smith Micro Software, Inc. "It not only provides Mac users with access to a powerful network fax solution, but also gives them access to an IP Gateway within HotFaxShare that will enable them to significantly reduce their long-distance faxing charges."
The new Mac client software for HotFaxShare makes creating and managing faxes incredibly easy. Users will benefit from a versatile fax log administrator that provides easy fax management capabilities for one or more documents. Users can also customize fax log views, preview faxes before transmission and use fax annotations as well. In addition, the Mac client includes a graphics based cover-page creator, offers support for scanned documents, and also allows users to fax documents scanned using any TWAIN-compatible scanner.
