Smith Micro Announces New Bundling Agreement for Internet CommSuite with Onnto Corporation

Oct 19, 1998
Onnto will include Smith Micro's all-in-one Internet communications software with its newly designed USB camera, USB modem and customized motherboard lines

ALISO VIEJO, CA - Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) today announced a new bundling agreement with Onnto Corporation of Taiwan, a leading supplier of PC peripheral and component hardware. Onnto has already begun incorporating Smith Micro's new Internet CommSuiteTMsoftware into its latest line of high performance universal serial bus (USB) cameras, USB modems and customized motherboards.

Internet CommSuite is an all-in-one Internet communications package that merges multiple Web communications into one fully-integrated, easy-to-use package. With Internet CommSuite, PC users can talk, fax, video phone, send audio and video e-mail and conduct other interactive activities over the Internet-with a single piece of communications software. Internet CommSuite is optimized for both traditional analog modems and newer cable and xDSL broadband technologies.

Onnto will use Internet CommSuite software as a means of providing even greater value to its customers by leveraging the synergy of Internet CommSuite's audio and video features with Onnto's camera and modem products. Onnto was especially impressed by the software's Video Sentry feature, which makes it possible to detect motion with a video camera, record it, save it to the hard drive or e-mail it, and/or trigger a sound file.

"We chose to bundle Smith Micro's new Internet CommSuite because it provides a powerful video/audio solution for Internet users in a single, tightly integrated package," said Nick Yang, General Manager of Onnto Corporation. "We selected Internet CommSuite because of Smith Micro's history, reputation, vision and strong technical support teams."

"The combination of our Internet CommSuite software and Onnto's hardware creates a full-featured Web communications solution," said Rod Lippincott, Product Manager for Smith Micro. "This allows Onnto to provide an even greater value to its Internet-hungry customers."

The versatile Internet CommSuite gives users all the software capabilities needed to talk for free over the Internet, make Internet video phone calls, send Internet faxes that bypass long-distance phone charges, create audio or audio/video e-mails, use an Internet answering machine, and more. All functions are activated from a single-click, easy-to-use software interface that resembles a TV remote control.
