SMITH MICRO SOFTWARE EXPANDS ITS INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS

I>Establishes Operations in Europe & Australia to Address Increasing International Demand for Communications Software

ALISO VIEJO, CA--Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) announced today that it has expanded its international operations by establishing presence in both Europe and Australia. The company initiated these expansion efforts specifically to address the increasing demand within those markets for PC communications software solutions.

At the helm of the new European operation is Smith Micro's European Sales Manager, Mr. Jean-Marie Zufferey. Formerly Vice President of Sales of Trio Communications, a European based communications software supplier, Mr. Zufferey speaks six different languages, and also has established relationships with leading OEM and retail vendors as well as major Internet Service Providers in France, Italy, Germany, United Kingdom, and Spain.

"There is excellent potential in Europe to expand the sales of Smith Micro software products," says Jean-Marie Zufferey. "We are particularly looking forward to launching new international versions of these products to European OEMs and retailers, and are very confident in our ability to meet the sales goals that the company has established for us," he added.

Jean-Marie and other members of Smith Micro's European operation will be demonstrating the company's line of communications software products at the CeBIT Show in Hanover, Germany from March 19 through the 25th.

Leading the Australian operation is Smith Micro's Sales Manager for Australia, Mr. Glenn Houssenloge, a technology industry professional previously Distribution Channel Manager for Banksia, the leading modem vendor in Australia. Mr. Houssenloge will apply his proven PC communications experience to expand Smith Micro's presence in Australia, and will also be responsible for launching the company's product line in New Zealand.

"Our operation's focus will be on elevating the Smith Micro brand to a position in the Australian and New Zealand markets," said Glenn Houssenloge. "To accomplish this objective, we intend to significantly improve our penetration of both OEM and retail sales channels," he added.
