SMITH MICRO SOFTWARE ACQUIRES SERVER-BASED FAX TECHNOLOGY FROM MITEK SYSTEMS

Mitek's LAN, Internet and Intranet Fax Technologies Complement Smith Micro's Desktop Fax Software Product Line

ALISO VIEJO, CA-- Smith Micro Software, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMSI) announced today that it has acquired the technology assets of the Fax Products Division of Mitek Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: MITK) in a cash transaction. The addition of Mitek's advanced server-based, Internet and intranet faxing technologies, effectively round out Smith Micro's leading desktop fax software product line and enhances the company's ability to address the lucrative Local Area Network (LAN)- based and enterprise fax server markets.

Smith Micro has acquired the following products from Mitek:

  • FaxShare is a powerful LAN solution that handles desktop computer fax creation, outbound transmission and incoming fax routing for companies with high fax volume, or with several computer users connected to a LAN.
  • INTRAfax is a client/server fax gateway that reduces international long distance phone expenses by allowing desktop computer generated faxes to be sent automatically over a LAN or throughout the world via an intranet, wide area network (WAN), or the Internet.
  • I-Paper fax, an innovative technology planned to be incorporated into INTRAfax and currently in development, will enable users to send faxes using a typical fax machine over a LAN or throughout the world via an intranet, wide area network (WAN), or the Internet.
